Eight Days was my first piece of published fanfiction.
In past, I concerned myself with more "serious" writing, whatever that means. However, after seeing Star Trek 2009, I went head-over heels for Spock and started reading everything I could lay eyes on, including volumes of old K/S stuff.
The degree to which that stuff turned me on was pretty amazing. Also the love and care that people had put into stories which they could never publish for profit made me think back to why I started writing in the first place.
So I found myself consumed by a kind of literary pon farr. Yet never having been a Trekkie, I didn't even know the correct name for what Vulcans get up to every seven years. But I burned, and so I dodged sleep and responsibilities to get the story done.
Now its years later. An awful lot of ST fanfic has made its way onto my LJ, and I've started to role play in various fandoms, including Trek and am having a blast.
