description About

I've been drawn back to fan fiction after many long years, and I regret nothing. My primary fandom is Supernatural, and for now I don't see myself writing any others.

Carry On My Wayward Son

by Danyealle
! Sam, confused by things being thrown at him from all directions, begins to find things while researching that, quite frankly, scares him. Nor can he share them with Dean as ...
comment "
Fandom: Supernatural

Pairing: Dean/Sam

Why I recommend it: This is a chapter-fic, and rather long at 21 installments, but I flew right through it and was very relieved when I realized it was complete -- I don't think I could have handled having to wait for the end. I read it all in one go, in about an hour (that's not to say it's a quick read, I just read quickly. Especially when I'm in to what I'm reading). I love the way Danyealle-sama utilizes appropriate song verses at the head of all her chapters. And although I was pretty sure I knew what I was getting into from the get-go, it was a nice touch that she provided specific content warnings for each chapter.

The story itself is rather in-depth, using both notes of canon and the author's invented AU details to form a nicely rounded tale. Plot development for both the hunting storyline and the brothers' relationship moves at a pleasantly frustrating pace -- there's no rushing in to things.

When I first saw the title, I thought "hm, this author is very bold to use that; I hope the story lives up to it!" While I'm sure a story with that title could go all sorts of different ways, I was pleased with this version.
"
