May I add also that I do not Mary Sue, to base a character on myself would be very boring to read. Im not that interesting tbh. But I do like bringing in OC's to my fiction, In 'All of me' for example, I wrote in the character of Shellie for my very dear friend who is in an abusive relationship.I wrote it to cheer her up during the very dark times she goes through.
Can i just add that although i do not mary sue, I did a tongue in cheek fic called 'open windows ' which was a kind of joke between me and my friends of what would happen to a fanfiction writer if the subject they wrote about found out who they were and had read their stories. I recieved some pathetic anon feedback on that for self insertion on here, despite recieving lots of positive feedback on Ao3 . It was a fun moment between friends, bit of a laugh.
