description About

I enjoy fiction that tests the limits of imagination. Absurd worlds teeming with settings, species, concepts, whathaveyou that are governed by a reality that differs wildly from our own. Because we cannot, or should not, attempt to understand such a work by relying upon our usual assumptions and paths of logic, but rather on the work’s own terms... ...I find these worlds are highly immersive and among the most fun to explore. On the other hand, I enjoy fiction that is firmly grounded in reality. Worlds that draw inspiration and resources from the natural world on a detailed scientific level. I dislike when anything is what it is “just because,” in both the fiction I consume and my day to day. Because I enjoy digging in deep — dissecting the how’s and the why’s — I am always disappointed when a thing is…just because it is... Blegh.

More than anything else, I love when these two modes of fiction are married in beautiful harmony. One might think that dives into the Wonderland-depths of imagination and a nerdy science-fiction attention to realistic detail are in conflict with one another. Such may be true. At least, the fictional escapes I’ve found that may be classified into this, perhaps, paradoxical genre have been rare… So, yeah.

Anyway, I have a world living in my head. A place where, I like to fancy, imagination and realism are married pretty happily. I’ve finally tricked myself into believing I have the courage to share this world with others, so I’mma attempt to do so here. I don’t receive a lot of feedback on my creative work, mostly ‘cuz I don’t ever show it much, but I’d love to hear any and all opinions — positive, negative, meh, I’m hungry for it all!

Oh, also… I’m plagued by baaaad typos. Not a lot of typos or little misspellings, typically, but narrative-breaking mistakes I’m blind to during proofreads. (E.g. Instead of, “Mel poured a bowl of cereal, then sat in front of the television.” It’d be, “Mel poured a bowel of cereal, then shat in front of the television.” You…you see what I mean?) If you feel inclined to share some thoughts on a story, and found a typo skulking about, I’d love you if you gave me a heads up so I can kill it dead. Thanks in advance!
